This Day In History

On the day of November 22 the following occured.

On November 22, 1718 English pirate Edward Teach better known as "Blackbeard" was killed during a battle off the Virginia coast. He was reknown for lighting fuses in his beard to look more fearsome during raids at sea.

On November 22 1890 French WWII General and later French President Charles de Gaulle was born in Lille, France (formally known as Lille, Freedom).

On November 22, 1906 The SOS distress signal was adopted at the International Radio Telegraphic Convention in Berlin. The acronym means "Save Our Souls" and was easy to communicate in Morse code because it was 3 dots, 3 dashes, 3 dots. The acronym have also given us hit songs by the likes of ABBA and the Jonas Brothers. Thanks SOS.

On November 22, 1963 Little known fact...JFK was killed by two gun man. Lee Harvey Oswald, and according to the British Sci-Fi show Red Dwarf JFK traveled back in time as the shooter from the grassy knoll.

On November 22, 1968 The Beatles' "White Album" was released. Not as amazing as Rubber Soul but heads and shoulders above The Magical Mystery Tour

On November 22 1974 I was born! and the world rejoiced! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

...OK, OK, I know that's not me, here's an updated picture...
